This weekend, Callan Capital volunteered at the 2023 La Jolla Kiwanis Junior Olympics.  Our team worked the relay race, manned the concession stand, and grilled hotdogs.

A highlight of the Kiwanis Club of La Jolla’s year is the Richard “Moon” Mullen Memorial La Jolla Junior Olympics. Held in the month of May at La Jolla High School, the first La Jolla Junior Olympics took place in 1992 during Moon’s tenure as club president. Today approximately 900 students from 9 La Jolla elementary schools can participate in 50, 100, and 200-meter races, softball throw, standing broad jump, and obstacle course. The event concludes with relay races and the Fastest Boy in La Jolla and Fastest Girl in La Jolla 400-meter race. The junior Olympics is staffed by over 100 volunteers including members of the Kiwanis Club of La Jolla, UCSD Circle K Club, La Jolla High School Key Club, University City High School Key Club, Mission Bay High School Key Club along with staff from the La Jolla YMCA.
